$5 Million Ongame Network Poker Classic

Online poker players have a new tournament to look forward to in 2006, which promises to be the largest online tournament ever. The Ongame Poker Network is guaranteeing a prize fund of at least $5 million for the Ongame Network Poker Classic, with the winner guaranteed at least a cool $1 million for first place.

The format of the tournament promises to be unique, too, as the early rounds of the tournament will be played online, until the field is narrowed down to 45 players. At that point the tournament is paused and all remaining players are flown to Barcelona, Spain, where the rest of the tournament is played live at the Casino de Barcelona during the weekend of September 30th, 2006.

Qualifying began March 27th at various online poker rooms on the Ongame network including PokerRoom.com, HoldemPoker.com, EuroPoker.com, Full Contact Poker, and Eurobet. Some lucky players will qualify for the tournament for as little as $1, winning through way through a series of online qualifying satellite tournaments.

The tournament is poised to be one of the most popular online events ever, with thousands and thousands of eager players drawn by the lure of millions of dollars in guaranteed prize money, hoping they have what it takes to emerge the ultimate winner.
