Let go of my Eggo…. wait Ego.

The past week or so I’ve been thinking of how a persons ego can affect their game. The thought crossed my mind as I played a Limit 2/4 Hold Em table. I watched two players who are normally fairly timid and selectively aggressive players suddenly become hyper-aggressive monkeys. However, they were only hyper-aggressive against each other. Then the trash talk started to occur in the chat box, “come get me buddy”, “good luck”, “you’re momma is …” You get the point.

It occurred to me that neither of these players was really gaining anything, money or brains wise. They were basically swapping money while creating rake for the site. And I’m sure we’ve all seen this occur numerous times AND I’ll admit (and I’m sure you do too) that I‘ve been affected by this same brain-dead syndrome. So, why do we decided to pull these sorts of antics? (more…)

Cryptologic My Poker Points (MPP’s)

An important consideration before takling any bonus is the amount of time it’ll take to complete. The Cryptologic sites (Interpoker, Sunpoker, Playboy Poker, PokerPlex, etc.) all deal with a points system name MPP’s. The usual conversion rate depending on which bonus is being completed is 5 MPP’s per $1. So a $100 bonus takes 500 MPP’s.

MPP’s are accumulated

  • 1MPP for a dollar rake
  • .25 MPP for anything less then a dollar rake

The question is how many hours would 500 MPP’s take?
After playing many many hours playing at the Crypto’s I’ve determined an approximate conversion ratio. These are all at the Fixed Limit tables which tend have weak-tight players.

  • 1/2 Full ring (10 players) -> 15 MPP/table/hour
  • 1/2 6-max -> 18 MPP/table/hour
  • 2/4 Full ring (10 players) -> 25 MPP/table/hour
  • 2/4 6-max -> 30 MPP/table/hour

Obviously these ratios are dependant on the type of players at the table and the speed of play. However, these what i’ve observed. If you’re playing more then one table at a time multiply by the number of tables.
