I was in Las Vegas at the end of 2006, November to be exact. This article I will review the Monte Carlo Poker Room. I was able to sit and play at the Monte Carlo Poker Room for a 4 hour session.

First Impressions: Upon entering the room I was greeted by a host asking me what they can help me with. They had two 1/2 No Limit tables and 2 Limit Hold’em tables going at 4pm. I was placed on a waiting list and called in 10 minutes. Upon entering, I was asked how many chips I’d like and given an option of two different seats.

Dealers: The dealers at the tables were for the most part friendly and efficient. However, they mostly made small chat with the other local players. When a new player joined they assumed that the player knew what they were doing. I’d rather they assume the player doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Waitresses: The waitresses were fairly efficient and came by frequently. Nothing extraordinary but nothing terrible.
Players: The players were typical of most 2/4 limit hold’em poker rooms. Not what i’d consider ’stellar’ or typical of most Online .25/.50 or .5/1. I had two players that knew what they were doing. Two BIG fish who just wanted to play every pot and socialize. The rest were o.k. players but nothing special.

Overall: Overall I had a great time playing at the Monte Carlo Poker Room. I was able to play for 4 hours and have a great time enjoying the atmosphere while drinking beer for free (or a small tip). The staff were friendly and efficient while the players were mediocre.
